Paintings Collages String Drawings
Buildings hold the stories of the lives and memories that people have created in them. This is why I am interested in urban architectural scenes. They are constantly moving, changing organisms that shed light on their past. They are torn down and rebuilt so frequently that what we are left with is a shifting landscape revealing small traces of history of what used to be.

I build my paintings like our cityscapes are built; they are just as much reductive as they are additive. I scrape, rub, tear and sand away layers to capture the feeling of these buildings as they evolve. I began incorporating photographs or other collage material and letting glimpses show through to continue the illusion that something exists beyond the surface.
